Surprising fact: Despite the fact that I am the key technical driver for a technology-focused company, I have no academic engineering background. I majored in philosophy at Cornell.

Most meaningful career-related accomplishment: Demonstrating to my children that balancing career and hard work with family responsibilities can be compatible, yielding great results for each, but not with one being at the expense of the other.
Surprising fact: Being totally out of touch with hockey. Having grown up playing hockey and making a professional living at it until 1989, I am completely out of touch with today's youth leagues and pro teams, focusing the past 15 years on girls basketball and girls lacrosse!

Additionally, being president of the Rochester chapter of the American Marketing Association for 2008-09 was an incredible experience at running a large volunteer board and organization.
Surprising fact: The most surprising fact about me is that I am an identical twin, and my twin, Denise Fitzgerald, is also an RBJ Forty Under 40 honoree from 2000.

What brought you to Rochester? Upon completion of his medical training, my father established his ob-gyn practice in Rochester when I was 6 years old.
Most meaningful career-related accomplishment: I translated 18 years of "lessons learned" into a successful, thriving executive career management and consulting business where I leverage my strengths every day and work with extraordinarily talented and motivated professionals and their companies. I am told I have boundless energy and passion for what I do. This is good!
Surprising fact: Occasionally, I will get in the longest line at Wegmans so I can browse the tabloids. For my 50th birthday I want to jump out of a plane (and parachute to the ground!).

Most meaningful career-related accomplishment: I've been very lucky throughout my career. I've had the opportunity to co-found, grow and lead Auragen, an Inc. 500 company, as well as other businesses. I've been lucky enough to get deeply involved with local boards, non-profits and political organizations along the way. And just this year I've achieved a major life goal by returning to a leadership position at Deerfield Academy; getting the chance to teach is icing on the cake. I am very thankful and have no complaints!
Surprising fact: I generally dislike computers and really prefer to work with my hands. Cooking, photography and woodworking are the avocations that keep me sane even as my career forces me to sit in front of an LCD all day.
