Thomson Reuters has named Rochester General Hospital one of the country’s 100 best facilities for cardiovascular care.

Inclusion among hospitals listed on the 2009 Thomson Reuters 100 Top Hospital: Cardiovascular Benchmarks for Success marks the ninth time Rochester General has made the list of the top 100 U.S. heart hospitals.

“Being named to the list of the 100 top heart hospitals in the nation is a source of great pride for our entire team of physicians and staff,” said Ronald Kirshner M.D., Rochester General chief of cardiac services and cardiothoracic surgery said in a statement. “The most important thing is that we never look at this designation as a one day celebration; we view it as a 365-day commitment to continuing to improve on the quality of care we provide our patients.”

Thomson Reuters’ health care division analyzes data from 1,000 U.S. hospitals to determine the 100 with the best record of treating cardiovascular disease. Rochester General is one of nine U.S. hospitals to have won the distinction nine times and the only one in the Northeast currently named to the Thomson Reuters list.
