Rochester Institute of Technology alumnus Donald Boyce, retired CEO of Idex Corp., has been elected to serve as chairman of the college’s board of trustees.
Boyce is retired and lives in Lake Forest, Ill. He is to serve a three-year term, succeeding Michael Morley.
“RIT has built a strong foundation and has experienced an impressive upward trajectory,” Boyce said. “But if it follows the strategic plan that was developed under Mike’s leadership, RIT will not only continue to provide an excellent education for students, but it will also rise even further in stature.”
Before retiring in 2000, Boyce was chair and CEO of Idex, a diversified manufacturing firm known for developing the “Jaws of Life” rescue equipment. He has been a board member of many publicly traded companies and is director of Muller Water Products Inc. in Atlanta.
Boyce has served on RIT’s board since 1999 and becomes the fourth alumnus chair and 17th overall in the university’s history.
Boyce served as chairman of the presidential search committee that ultimately led to the hiring of RIT president William Destler in 2007. Boyce is a member of the hospitality and service management national advisory board and assumed a leadership role in the Campaign for RIT, which concluded in 2006.
