Two local optics executives were honored for their leadership and entrepreneurship at the Rochester Regional Photonics Cluster/New York Photonics annual meeting at the Rochester Museum and Science Center this week.

Michael Mandina, president of Optimax Systems Inc. in Ontario, Wayne County, received the Entrepreneur of the Year Award. The award is given annually to an RRPC member who has demonstrated creativity, innovative spirit and drive in pursuit of the dream of creating an industry-leading company in the optics, photonics and imaging industry.

Christopher Cotton, president and CEO of ASE Optics Inc., received the Leadership Award, which is given annually to a member who has demonstrated a passion for working with fellow members and the community to promote the Rochester region's optics, photonics and imaging industry.

Roughly 120 people attended the meeting, which included a panel discussion on optics and energy.
