Pittsford real estate firm sees 30% rise in sales

Mitchell Pierson Jr. Inc. Realtors reported sales volume in October was up 30 percent from a year ago.

The Pittsford-based firm, which ranked fourth on the Rochester Business Journal’s 2009 list of residential real estate companies, saw a 12 percent increase in dollar volume last month compared with October 2008.

In a statement Wednesday, President Trip Pierson said the increase comes despite a generally slow market. He believes it indicates buyers and sellers are using local real estate companies in lieu of big box firms.

“Regardless of the economy, people will continue to buy and sell real estate. It’s the largest investment they'll ever make, and buyers and sellers want to feel confident that they are making a sound decision,” he said.

Mitchell Pierson Jr. Inc. Realtors has 92 real estate agents, according to the RBJ list.
