The University of Rochester will receive $1.2 million for research, development and deployment of solid-state lighting systems, officials said.
The funding comes from the U.S. Department of Energy’s solid-state lighting awards through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, federal officials announced Friday.
UR will use the funding to develop host materials for white phosphorescent organic light-emitting diodes, which are more energy efficient than traditional incandescent bulbs, officials said.
