Canaltown Cinema LLC, a new movie theater in Macedon, is slated to open Oct. 15.

The one-screen movie theater, previously named the West Wayne Theater, has been closed since April. The cinema has new owners, Kristin and Richard Anderson of Fairport, who wanted to bring the venue back to the Wayne County community.

The owners want to attract a wide range of people to the theater and plan do this by showing a variety of movies, including family films, new releases and some older movies.

“Our overall goal is to provide quality, affordable entertainment to the area,” Kristin Anderson said.

The Andersons have undertaken renovations and redecorating. The theater is at 1900 Route 31.

The opening weekend movie is “RED,” starring Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich and Helen Mirren.

For information about Canaltown Cinema’s upcoming movies, prices and times, go online to fandango.com or visit the theater’s Facebook site.
