Developer Whitney Baird Associates LLC Wednesday morning broke ground on the rehabilitation of the Culver Road Armory.

The property is at 145 Culver Road. The ceremony recognized the collaborative effort of the Monroe County, the city of Rochester, Rochester Gas & Electric Corp., the Culver Road Armory Task Force and others.

The first of several new tenants were unveiled, including Boylan, Brown, Code, Vigdor & Wilson LLP, one of Rochester’s top law firms.

“The groundbreaking of the Culver Road Armory is a significant step forward for economic development in Rochester,” said Rochester Mayor Robert Duffy, in a statement.

The vision of the new Culver Road Armory aims to create a 100,000 square-foot facility with cutting-edge design elements.

“Our goal is to offer a modern, high-end design environment with an emphasis on creativity so distinctive, users feel an acute empathy toward the building,” said Fred Rainaldi Jr., managing member of Whitney Baird Associates.
