Paetec Holding Corp. has inked a five-year contract with the U.S. General Services Administration authorizing it to provide voice, data and Internet services to government agencies in New York and New Jersey, Paetec officials said Tuesday.
Called a Regional and Local Telephony Contract, the GSA contract gives Paetec the right to bid to be telecommunications service provider for some 540 government-owned buildings and quarters leased by government agencies in the GSA’s Region 2. The GSA region includes New York, New Jersey, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The GSA contract follows a $1.5 million deal under a similar GSA contract covering Maryland and Pennsylvania that Paetec announced several weeks ago. In the earlier deal, Paetec’s Intellifiber Networks subsidiary inked a deal with the U.S. Defense Information Agency to provide fiber-optic capability to several USDIA installations.
The Region 2 pact represents a multi-million dollar opportunity for Paetec, which is one of only a few GSA-authorized telecommunications-service suppliers in that region, Paetec spokesman Christopher Muller said.
