Vehicle sales climb in September

New and used car sales improved in September compared with a year ago but declined from August, the Rochester Automobile Dealers’ Association Inc. reported.

Some 3,232 new vehicles were sold in Monroe County last month up more than 4 percent increase from 3,097 a year ago, but declined more than 12 percent from 3,690 in August. Used-car sales fell more than 11 percent from 2,021 in August to 1,793 in September, but were up more than 10 percent from 1,626 a year ago.

Vehicle sales typically fall from August to September, RADA historical data shows.

Monroe County dealers sold 5,025 new and used vehicles last month up 6 percent from 4,723 in September 2010. Sales were down 12 percent from 5,711 in August, Some 47,524 cars and trucks have been sold through September, up nearly 14 percent from 41,873 in the same time period a year ago.
