Gates firm receives NYSERDA money to develop fuel-cell part

Solid Cell Inc., a Gates manufacturer of solid-oxide fuel cells and equipment, is getting $200,000 from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority for work on a fuel-cell part, officials announced Tuesday.

The company plans to match the NYSERDA funding with help from Rochester-based ceramic component manufacturer RocCera LLC and from Alfred University.

Solid Cell, which employs three, received $250,000 from NYSERDA last year to help set up its 5,000-square-foot development facility at the Rochester Technology Park.

It plans to double its space in 2012 and add employees, officials said.
