Ithaca-based e2e Materials LLC will open a manufacturing facility in Geneva, Ontario County, as part of a project that could add up to 200 local jobs over the next five years.
E2e develops, designs, engineers and produces proprietary biocomposites for the furniture, cabinetry and other markets. The company’s composites are made from soy flour and natural grass fiber such as jute, flax and kenaf.
To help with the project, e2e received $1.25 million through Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s Regional Economic Development Council initiative.
E2e leaders said an increased demand for its products from Fortune 100 customers is driving growth and the need for greater manufacturing capacity.
The business is taking a regionally integrated manufacturing approach, with plans to source its agro-based materials within 100 miles of the Geneva facility.
“E2e’s (regionally integrated manufacturing) approach will have a broad, sustainable economic impact by spanning employment opportunities in agriculture, manufacturing, sales and high technology,” said Michael Manikowski, director of Ontario County’s Department of Economic Development, in a statement.
