Rochester Business Journal

Berry Plastics Corp. has been approved for a state grant of up to $190,000 to help pay for building renovations and utility upgrades at its Macedon, Wayne County, plant as part of a $6 million project.

Berry, formerly Pliant Corp., makes film and flexible packaging. The business has relocated a blown film line from a plant in Canada, prompting the need for upgrades. The company also purchased and installed new machinery.

The project led to the creation of 50 local jobs and the retention of 461 jobs.

The funding was part of a nearly $1.4 million package awarded to companies across the state by Empire State Development.
