Grotto dance club opens in East End

Rochester Business Journal
June 6, 2012

Rochester’s East End nightlife area has welcomed a new addition.

Electronic dance club Grotto held its grand opening last week at 7 Lawrence St. off of East Avenue, a space formerly occupied by sports bar The Pig.

The space has been renovated both inside and outside, and boasts a more upscale feel than the sports bar vibe of The Pig, which was formerly known as the Pig-N-Whistle.

Grotto is under the same management as The Pig. The club’s Facebook page (Facebook.com/GrottoRochester) promises “a Playboy mansion feel grotto” that is “changing the face of electronic dance music in Rochester.”

Grotto sits behind another new addition to East End called Wall Street, an American style pub at 330 East Avenue. The space was formerly occupied by Shea’s Food, Wine & Tap, which closed in January. However, Wall Street has yet to host its grand opening.
