Honoring a $4 million donation from Constellation Brands Inc. and the family of Constellation Brands CEO Robert Sands, Rochester General Health System has dubbed its cardiac care division the Sands-Constellation Heart Unit.
The donations of $2 million apiece from the Sands Family Foundation and Constellation Brands kick off an RGHS capital campaign. A member and former chairman of the RGHS board, Sands also donated $2 million to the health system during its last capital campaign, which ended some 10 years ago.
In 2009, RGHS renamed its intensive care unit for heart patients as the Sands Family Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit.
Headed by heart surgeon Ronald Kirshner M.D., the RGHS cardiac unit includes cardiology and heart surgery services and is affiliated with the Cleveland Clinic.
