Monroe County’s newest park lodge, the Thomas X. Grasso Erie Canal Lodge, was christened Friday.

The new lodge is in Greece Canal Park on the banks of the Erie Canal.

“Tom Grasso is a statewide leader in the preservation of the Erie Canal and is a strong advocate for revitalization efforts of the canal throughout the community,” Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks said in a statement.

“It is fitting that our county park system’s newest lodge, which was inspired by the structures found along the Erie Canal, will bear his name and honor his legacy.”

Grasso, a resident of Pittsford, is president of the Canal Society of New York State and commissioner of the Erie Canal National Heritage Corridor.
