The Rochester Business Journal earned the second-place award for best daily email in a competition among local and regional business publications in the United States, Canada and Australia.
The Alliance of Area Business Publications' 2012 silver award in the daily email category went to the newspaper's staff for the RBJ Daily Report, which is delivered to readers each weekday afternoon. The recognition marked back-to-back AABP honors for the RBJ Daily Report; a year ago, it received the gold award.
The RBJ Daily Report contains the day's top local business news stories, plus a summary of news from around the world, a local stock roundup and other features. The email is a free, subscription-based product.
Judges for the competition said "the RBJ Daily Report provides headlines and just enough information to keep users informed without overwhelming them with content. The layout is friendly and engaging with links to more depth online."
The Des Moines Business Record received the 2012 daily email gold award in the competition, which was judged by members of the University of Missouri School of Journalism faculty.
With its headquarters in Los Angeles, AABP is a non-profit organization representing nearly 65 local and regional business publications in the United States, Canada and Australia. Winners of its annual awards were announced June 23 at the group's summer conference in Milwaukee.
