Veritas Wine Bar has opened for business in the Alexander Park neighborhood.
The wine bar is co-owned and operated by Paul and Amy Powers. The two Rochester natives said they became wine aficionados during the late ‘90s when they lived in New York City.
After returning to Rochester in 2001 they worked at Wine Sense on Park Avenue and then took jobs in wine sales and distribution.
“We have always shared a great passion for learning about win and are thrilled to finally realize our dream of opening a wine bar to share that passion with our customers,” said Amy Powers.
Veritas’ wine list includes over 20 wines by the glass and more than 100 by the bottle. The wine bar has a grand opening celebration set for Aug. 17.
Veritas is a tenant Buckingham Properties LLC. The real estate firm said, in a statement, that the wine bar is the latest example of Buckingham’s efforts to revitalize the Alexander Park neighborhood, formerly the site of Genesee Hospital.
The area also includes new MVP Health Care and EarthLink Inc. offices, as well as a Canandaigua National Bank, among others.
