The University of Rochester has named School of Nursing interim dean Kathy Rideout to the post permanently, said Bradford Berk M.D., UR Medical Center CEO.

A pediatric nurse practitioner at Golisano Children’s Hospital, Rideout was appointed as interim dean some 12 months ago. She had served for 26 years as a nursing school professor and in several administrative positions at the school. Rideout has led the nursing school in development of its strategic plan, Berk said.

As dean, Rideout plans to continue to devote 10 percent of her time to clinical work as a pediatric nurse practitioner.
