Harris Corp.’s RF Communications division has been awarded a $397.5 million contract to supply its handheld radios to the U.S. military.
The award is a follow-on order from a five-year contract the company received in 2007 that had a maximum value of some $2.7 billion.
The most recent order will provide radios and related equipment for a variety of operational missions. It is a two-year contract, which includes two one-year options, a U.S. government notice issued Monday states. The work will be done in the Rochester area and is expected to be completed in September 2014.
RF Communications employs 2,200 local workers.
