Garlock Sealing Technologies LLC in Palmyra, Wayne County, has been awarded $936,000 through Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s Regional Council initiative to support a series of energy-efficiency projects that are anticipated to cut the company’s costs by $450,000 annually.
The award, funded by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, is being used toward a $2.6 million project to make process improvements and increase the energy efficiency in Garlock’s older buildings.
“For well over a century, Garlock Sealing Technologies has served as a staple of the Finger Lakes Region – creating much-needed local jobs and growing to become a vital component to our overall regional economy,” said Regional Council co-chairs Joel Seligman, president of the University of Rochester, and Danny Wegman, CEO of Wegmans Food Markets Inc., in a joint statement.
Garlock, which employs 540 local workers, celebrated its 125th anniversary in New York in August.
