Hazlitt 1852 Vineyards Inc. has opened its tasting room at its Red Cat Cellars facility in Naples, Ontario County.
Hazlitt purchased the former Widmer Wine Cellars facility from Constellation Brands Inc. in 2010. Since then, Hazlitt has invested $1.1 million into the facility, including a crush area and outdoor improvements. The facility employs 30 full-time and 10 part-time workers.
The 1,600-square-foot visitors’ area features educational and personalized tastings of Hazlitt 1852 Vineyards wines and retail items.
“We are pleased that Hazlitt’s Red Cat Cellars has already generated so much excitement in the region, quickly becoming a tourist destination on the Canandaigua Lake Wine Trail,” co-CEO Doug Hazlitt said in a statement. “We couldn’t be happier to restore life back to the facility and offer another reason to bring visitors to the town of Naples.”
In conjunction with the grand opening, Olympic gold-medal U.S. States rower Meghan Musnicki will at the Hazlitt tent during the Naples Grape Festival from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday.
