Four Rochester companies have been named to the New York Green Tech 50, a list that recognizes the top 50 private green technology companies in New York.
The companies were revealed during the Green Tech Monster conference on Tuesday. The goal of the list is to highlight and promote fast-growing startups focused on green technology.
Among the local companies chosen was American Aerogel Corp., which develops aerogels and related materials for temperature-sensitive shipping. Emerald Technologies, which is now OptiCool Technologies, was selected for its work in providing green-friendly cooling for data centers.
Sweetwater Energy Inc., the Rochester firm led by Arunas Chesonis, co-founder of Paetec Holding Corp., also made the list. The company produces low-cost, concentrated sugars from non-food plant materials that are sold to refiners, which use them to produce biofuels, biochemicals and bioplastics.
Vnomics Corp. was recognized for its mobile workforce management platform for the trucking industry, called FleetKnowSys.
The 50 companies were chosen from a pool of 200 nominations.
