Former President Bill Clinton on Friday is scheduled to hold a rally in Rochester in support of Rep. Louise Slaughter and Rep. Kathy Hochul. Both congresswomen are facing tough reelection bids.

Slaughter, D-Perinton, is in a tightening contest with Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks in the 25th District. Hochul, D-Amherst, Erie County, is in a close race for reelection against Chris Collins, former Erie County executive, in the 27th District.

The event is to be held at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center. Doors are to open at 3:30 p.m. The event is slated to last until 6 p.m. Tickets are available at http://act.votelouise.com/page/s/rsvp-clinton-rally and http://kathyhochul.ticketleap.com/clinton/.

Clinton and Slaughter have worked closely together on a number of landmark initiatives, her campaign said.

“I’m excited to welcome my friend President Clinton to Rochester and Monroe County,” Slaughter said in a statement. “His visit will remind voters that the way to economic prosperity and a balanced budget is through lifting up the middle class and providing opportunity to all.”

Hochul’s new district represents parts of Ontario and Monroe Counties, as well as Genesee, Livingston, Orleans, Wyoming, and parts of Erie County.

“It is a tremendous privilege to welcome President Clinton to Monroe County,” said Hochul.  "President Clinton represents the very best of bi-partisan leadership, and his record demonstrates the positive progress we can make when Democrats and Republicans work together to grow our economy, strengthen the middle class, and balance the budget.”
