Hillside Family of Agencies was named Agency of the Year by the Alliance for Children and Families, a national membership association dedicated to achieving a vision of a healthy society and strong communities for children, adults and families.

Hillside received the award at a ceremony in Orlando on Thursday. The organization was chosen for the honor because of its demonstrated excellence in innovative programming, impact through advocacy efforts on local, state or national levels and board participation and support, Hillside officials said.

The Agency of the Year awards are given out in different categories separated by budget, and Hillside won in the $19 million and above category.

“Today, Hillside Family of Agencies strives to be the leader in translating leading-edge research into practical solutions that are replicable, not only within our services and organizational operations, but throughout our industry,” said Dennis Richardson, Hillside president and CEO. “Our accomplishments, particularly over the past year, exemplify our commitment to providing effective services for youth and families that has inspired and guided Hillside for the past 175 years.”

Hillside is one of the largest non-profit agencies in the United States, employing more than 2,298 staff members in 40 locations across New York and Maryland, the organization’s officials noted.

“The Alliance and our more than 350 members benefit from having Hillside Family of Agencies as a part of this network of nonprofit human serving organizations,” said Susan Dreyfus, president and CEO of Alliance for Children and Families. “We are pleased to honor Hillside Family of Agencies with this award, as it has shown a clear commitment to living its mission each day.”
