Wegmans to open sixth store in Maryland

Wegmans Food Markets Inc. is set to open its sixth store in Maryland this weekend.

With construction complete, Wegmans officials said Monday the new store in Gambrills, Md. will open Sunday at 7 a.m. The 125,000-square-foot-store will have more than 500 employees and feature nearly 70,000 products, a Seafood Market and a Market Café with seating for more than 300 people indoors and outdoors, the company said.

The new store will give Wegmans a total of 81 locations in New York, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Virginia. The company placed fourth on Fortune magazine’s most recent list of the “100 Best Companies to Work For.”
