Work began Thursday on a $25 million expansion at Turning Stone Resort Casino, with four entertainment options scheduled for completion next summer.
A country music dance hall, a rock and roll club, an ultra lounge and a piano bar will be added, officials said. It is the largest project at the resort since the construction of the Turning Stone Tower and the Lodge in 2004.
The entertainment complex will result in 200 construction jobs and 100 permanent jobs, officials said. Most construction jobs will go to workers who live within 50 miles of the resort.
Syracuse-based Hayner Hoyt Corp. is responsible for general contracting and construction management, officials said. Skaneateles-based Ramsgard Architectural Design will do the design work.
“The addition of a new state-of-the-art entertainment venue will create 300 new jobs for our region and promises to be unlike anything else in all of New York,” said Ray Halbritter, Oneida Indian Nation representative and Oneida Nation Enterprises CEO, in a statement.
Turning Stone Resort Casino is located some 30 miles east of Syracuse at Thruway exit 33.
