First Niagara Financial Group Inc. said Thursday it has promoted Avi Patel to chief marketing officer.
Patel is responsible for the bank’s branding and marketing strategies, as well as management of departments and agency partners implementing those strategies, the bank said.
“Avi empowers his teams to collaborate and succeed, providing leadership that is at once visionary and practical,” said Mark Rendulic, executive vice president for retail banking, in a statement.
Patel also will continue to lead the bank’s retail product development and management group, a position for which he was hired in January 2011 after working for Wilmington Trust Co. in Delaware.
Patel is based at First Niagara’s corporate headquarters in Buffalo.
