Holiday Inn Rochester Airport to stay open during sale

The Holiday Inn Rochester Airport will remain open for business as a possible sale is negotiated, representatives announced Monday.

The hotel is for sale, General Manager Timothy Elie said, and an offer has been received, “but we are open for business as usual,” he said in a statement released by Holiday Inn.

Hotel manager American Resort Management LLC, in a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification with the state Department of Labor on Feb. 21, announced plans to close its facility at 911 Brooks Ave. The Holiday Inn site is near the Greater Rochester International Airport, where it employs 120.

Layoffs are expected to begin May 15, the company said in the notification. The layoffs are the result of a sale of business, the filing states.

“As the hotel completes its transition to new ownership, I am confident that its doors will remain open and that the new management team will protect the many dedicated employees who work hard every day to make the facility one of our community’s finest homes away from home,” Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks said in the hotel’s statement.
