The 10th annual Riedman Foundation Opening Day Trout Derby is April 1 at Powder Mills Park in Perinton.
The event begins at 7 a.m. and continues until noon, and is open to the public for $5 per participant, officials announced this week.
The fisherman catching the largest brown trout will win $500 from the Bank of America Corp. and be added to the Bank of America Angler Award commemorative plaque on display at the fish hatchery building on Park Road.
“There’s no better way to celebrate the Riedman Foundation’s 10th anniversary of operating and funding the Fish Hatchery at Powder Mills Park than with this all-ages derby that attracts so many from our community, multiple generations that enjoy spending the day together in nature and sharing their love of fishing,” said John Riedman, business executive and philanthropist, in a statement.
Applications are available at www.fishpowdermill.org, or at the fish hatchery. Participants also can register beginning at 6 a.m. on the day of the event.
