JPMorgan Chase & Co. conducted an internal job fair Thursday to allow workers at its Orleans County call center to apply for 150 positions available in Rochester, and a job fair involving several companies is planned by month’s end, Sen. Charles Schumer said.
The Albion facility, which employs 412, is scheduled to close Sept. 9, JPMorgan stated Thursday in a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification with the state Department of Labor. The closing is five days later than the initial WARN filing last Friday.
“Following last week’s announcement that JPMorgan will close its Albion facility, I went to the top and urged CEO Jamie Dimon to help make lemonade out of lemons,” said Schumer, D-N.Y., in a statement Thursday. “And today, we are beginning to see progress in that effort.”
The bank will hold another job fair before the end of June, with several companies discussing available jobs, he said. Claims Recovery Financial Services LLC, which employs 550 in Albion and Medina, will be among the presenting companies in the second job fair.
CRFS has 178 openings, Schumer said. Representatives of AMS Servicing LLC in the Buffalo suburbs and Yahoo Inc. in Lockport, Niagara County, also are likely to attend.
