I-Evolve Technology Services Inc., a Buffalo area-based business technology consulting and cloud computing firm, has acquired Layer 8 Communications LLC in Rochester.
The deal expands I-Evolve’s Western New York reach. Officials hope it will drum up more business and presence in the region.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Luke Crissy, managing partner of Layer 8 Communications, will join a branch of eight employees in Rochester. I-Evolve has 20 employees in the Buffalo area.
“He brings a business development skill that we need in that marketplace plus a lot of client relationships that are only going to add to our growth,” said Kevin Kelly, president of I-Evolve. “That’s where our focus is growing in the Rochester market. It’s complimentary to what we’ve already invested in.”
Crissy will be I-Evolve’s business development leader in the region.
“I’m excited that we were able to find a trusted acquisition partner that we feel confident will care for our customers” Crissy said.
The partnership is expected to strengthen both companies.
“Like our other transactions, the acquisition of Layer 8 Communications allows I-Evolve to leverage the technology investment in our multiple carrier grade data centers located in Amherst and Buffalo,” Kelly said. “The Layer 8 Communications transaction also complements and enhances our recent acquisition of Rochester-based E3 Technologies, which will most certainly increase the value and service quality we provide to our technology partners and clients.”
The core of Layer 8 Communications is data communication, including managing Internet activity and connecting multiple offices. Officials expect the integration of the acquisition to be seamless.
“Our investment in technical talent, state of the art technologies and redundant high-speed data connectivity gives us the tools and resources we need to ensure that the process will go smoothly,” said David Meller, chief technology officer of I-Evolve.
