Shares of EarthLink Inc. stock were trading up nearly 6 percent Tuesday after the company reported a widening loss and decline in revenues.

EarthLink experienced a net loss of $11.3 million, or 11 cents a share, in the third quarter. This compares with a net loss of $11.2 million, or 11 cents a share, in the second quarter of 2013.

EarthLink said in its filing Monday it lost $11.3 million, or 11 cents a share, in the third quarter. A year ago the company reported a profit of $1.4 million.

EarthLink reported a drop in revenues, to $308.6 million the third quarter, down from $330.8 million in the third quarter of 2012 and down from $313.4 million in the second quarter of 2013.

The Atlanta-based company employs roughly 450 workers in Rochester.

The company in July completed its acquisition of IT services provider CenterBeam Inc. this year and reached sales productivity above historical averages, company officials said. With the acquisition, the company broadened its reach in cloud-based collaboration services, mobile device management and unified endpoint management and security.

"We maintained our positive sales momentum into the third quarter of 2013, as we continued to focus our IT services and growth products on larger enterprise customers," said Rolla Huff, EarthLink chairman and chief executive officer.
