Bon-Ton store in Henrietta to close in March

Rochester Business Journal
November 8, 2013

Bon-Ton Stores Inc. will lay off its 73 employees in early February as its Henrietta store is set to close March 26.

A notice was filed with the Department of Labor stating the Pennsylvania-based company’s lease will not be renewed.

“The closure of Bon-Ton’s last location in Rochester is not unexpected,” said Dennis Wilmot, senior vice president of leasing and retail development for Wilmorite Management Group.  “Wilmorite has already commenced site plan application for the first of a two phased development that includes the replacement of Bon-Ton with new and dynamic concepts not currently found in the region. More detailed information will be provided in the coming weeks.”

The Marketplace Mall location is the only Bon-Ton in Rochester, however the company has a dozen stores in New York.

The department store has more than 200 locations nationwide.
