GE executive to give keynote speech at event

A conference and expo presented by the New York Battery and Energy Storage Technology Consortium Inc. is scheduled for Wednesday at the Hyatt Regency Rochester.

The event, Supply Chain and Manufacturing, is from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Christine Furstoss, global technical director for manufacturing and materials technology at General Electric Co., is the keynote speaker.

Representatives of the Eastman Business Park, Greater Rochester Enterprise Inc. and High Tech Rochester Inc. are among 18 experts in energy storage and economic development scheduled to participate in panel discussions, officials said Tuesday.

Representatives of Empire State Development Corp. and the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority also are scheduled to be involved.

The consortium has announced plans to create a $23 million battery and energy storage technology test and commercialization center at Eastman Business Park.
