Nazareth College of Rochester is joining the Clinton Global Initiative University Network, a group of colleges and universities that aim to mentor students and provide seed funding to innovators and entrepreneurs.
There are more than 45 colleges and universities in the CGI University Network. Nazareth officials said the affiliation will give students the chance to tackle some pressing societal issues.
"I am very excited about the opportunities the CGI U provides for our students," said Daan Braveman, Nazareth president. "They will meet and work with over 1,200 student leaders in addressing global issues relating to education, environment and climate change, peace and human rights, poverty alleviation and public health. These students truly will be making a difference through their collaborative and creative actions. "
Nazareth officials said they are now looking for students to apply to attend the CGI U 2014, an event this spring at Arizona State University that will be hosted by President Bill Clinton.
