Macy's to close Medley Center store, lay off 82

Rochester Business Journal
January 8, 2014

Macy’s at Medley Centre will lay off 82 employees due to the store’s closing, according to a state Dept. of Labor filing.

Nationally, Macy’s Inc. is cutting 2,500 jobs as part of a reorganization to sustain its profitability.

Layoffs will occur in mid-April. The store is expected to officially close April 22.  The reason for the dislocation was cited as economic.

The retail store is located on Irondequoit Drive.

Macy’s labor and stores employee relations representative could not be reached for comment.
