Sales of new cars sink in January

Rochester Business Journal
February 21, 2014

Sales of new vehicles in Monroe County dropped in January, the Rochester Automobile Dealers’ Association Inc. reported.

Area dealers sold 2,731 new vehicles in January, down nearly 6 percent from 2,894 a year ago. The sales also were down 19 percent from 3,358 in December.

RADA historical data show new-car sales typically decline from December to January, but the area has experienced an upward year-over-year trend the last several years.

Used-car sales data is no longer available as RADA has noted figures the organization receives from dealers is voluntary and does not include independent used-vehicle sales numbers in Monroe County, a major component of the used-vehicle market.
