Wells Fargo announces additional job cuts at Perinton office

Wells Fargo & Co. is cutting 700 mortgage-related jobs, including four more at its office in Perinton, by the end of May, officials said this week.

The reductions are necessary because of a lesser demand for mortgage financing, representatives said Wednesday.

The San Francisco-based bank announced in January that 25 jobs would be cut at its home mortgage office on Sully’s Trail in Perinton, with 43 jobs retained there, a state filing said.

A Wednesday filing with the state Department of Labor lists 68 employees at the Sully’s Trail office.

Mortgage applications declined significantly in the last six months of 2013 and are expected to drop further in the first quarter of 2014 because of winter and lower volumes of refinancing, representatives said this week.

The company will help those whose jobs are being eliminated find other opportunities at Wells Fargo and assist them in their job search, representatives said.
