Fibertech Networks LLC chairman and CEO John Purcell was recognized as the Telecommunications CEO of the Year by Capacity magazine.

The CEO’s of Hibernia Networks LLC, Lightower Fiber Networks LLC and TW Telecom Inc. were the other finalists.

Fibertech was Metro Service Provider of the Year for the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. The company was recognized for operational excellence. The company received the most honors of any company at the Metro Connect Awards dinner in Miami.

“It’s certainly a humbling experience to be among those nominated for this award, let alone receiving the honor,” Purcell said in a statement. “Without our founder Frank Chiaino none of this would be possible, as well as the dedication of our employees who share in this honor with me.”

The dark fiber and optical broadband services provider employs 280 employees with 160 of them in Rochester.
