Wells Fargo to cut more jobs in Perinton

Wells Fargo & Co. is cutting 17 additional employees at its mortgage financing office in Perinton, the company said this week.

The latest move increases the total jobs eliminated at the Sully’s Trail home mortgage location to 46.

The cuts are necessary because of continuing changes in the demand for mortgage financing, Wells Fargo spokesman Kevin Friedlander explained in an email.

“After evaluating the current market and our business needs, we are reducing 17 team members to better align with the market and increase the efficiency of our organization,” Friedlander said.

A February filing with the state Department of Labor included total employment of 68, not including a reduction of 25 positions announced in January. Four cuts were announced in the February filing.

This week’s announcement did not include a departure date for the 17 workers. When fully implemented, the reductions would leave 22 employees at the Perinton location.
