New car sales surge in March

Sales of new vehicles in Monroe County skyrocketed in March, Rochester Automobile Dealers’ Association Inc. reported.

Area car dealers sold some 4,254 new vehicles last month, up 30 percent from 3,273 in February and 2 percent from 4,168 a year ago. RADA does not report used-car sales.

Sales of new vehicles typically improve from February to March, RADA historical data show.

Monroe County dealers have sold 10,258 new vehicles this year, up 2 percent from 10,087 in the first quarter last year.
