Jay Judson, principal and architect at SWBR Architecture, Engineering & Landscape Architecture P.C., plans to retire May 31 after 28 years at the firm, SWBR said Thursday.

Judson has been involved in a variety of technical project types. He has specialized in work for the firm’s college and university clients, serving as the client liaison and project leader.

He has been involved with firm’s board of directors for more than 25 years. He served as treasurer from 1993 to 2010 and president from 1984 to 1992.

“Jay embodies SWBR’s spirit and energy, and has been a leading brand ambassador for our firm since joining in 1986,” said David Beinetti, president, in a statement. “His dedication, wealth of knowledge, extended experience and positive attitude have been a major contribution to the firm’s success.”

At SWBR, Judson served as the senior principal involved with higher-education projects with Rochester Institute of Technology, Monroe Community College and other area educational institutions.

Most recently, Judson was involved in the design of the Golisano Institute for Sustainability at RIT.
