YellowJacket Racing & Fitness Inc. announced Monday that MVP Health Care will return as the event sponsor of the Rochester Marathon slated for Sep. 21.
YellowJacket, a race timing and production services company, acquired ownership of the Rochester Marathon from the Arthritis Foundation of Upstate New York for an undisclosed amount in March. The race, which includes a marathon, a marathon relay and a half-marathon, was managed by the non-profit organization for nine years.
MVP Health Care has sponsored the event since its founding in 2005.
“MVP Health Care’s support has been central to the growth of the Rochester Marathon,” said Ellen Brenner-Boutillier, co-owner of YellowJacket Racing, in a statement. “We will build on this success in working with MVP Health Care to make this the premier race on the fall calendar in upstate New York.”
At last year’s race there were more than 600 finishers for the marathon, 2,000 for the half-marathon and 186 relay teams. The event serves as a fundraiser for local charity. This year’s fundraising details will be announced in the coming months, officials said.
