Cuomo selects Hochul as running mate

Gov. Andrew Cuomo has selected Kathleen Hochul as lieutenant governor on the Democratic ticket, reports Wednesday said.

Hochul would fill the seat being vacated by former Rochester Mayor Robert Duffy, who has decided to not run for a second term in Albany.

Hochul represented the 26th Congressional District in the House of Representatives from June 1, 2011 through the end of 2012. The district stretched from Buffalo to Ontario County.

She was defeated by former Erie County Executive Christopher Collins in her bid for re-election in the redrawn, Republican-leaning 27th District in November 2012.

Hochul was the Erie County Clerk from 2007 to 2011.
