The Sibley Reunion, an event planned by Sibley Building owner WinnDevelopment LLC, has reached full attendance capacity.

The event in July aims to celebrate the history of the building as well as its future by bringing together former employees. The event is expected to draw 350 guests.

“The enthusiasm for the Sibley Reunion has been amazing and really shows how beloved this building is by the community,” said Joseph Eddy, vice president of WinnDevelopment in a statement. “We’re excited to host so many former employees and give them the opportunity to reconnect with old friends, share stories and see firsthand the progress being made with our redevelopment.”

The event is from 1 to 5 p.m. July 19. Sibley’s memorabilia will be featured at the event. Food, drinks and musical entertainment will be provided.

The store opened in 1868 and was Rochester’s first department store. The Sibley Building, located at 228 E. Main St., was named to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

Sibley Redevelopment L.P., an affiliate of WinnDevelopment, closed on the sale of the building in late 2012.
