GRAR foundation contributes $20K to Yates relief fund

The Realtors Charitable Foundation, part of the Greater Rochester Association of Realtors Inc., has donated $20,000 to the Yates Community Endowment Disaster Relief Fund.

“Part of our mission is to give back to the community by addressing critical housing needs, and we are grateful to be able to help the people of Penn Yan now,” said Bill Tierney, chair of the Realtors Charitable Foundation, in a statement.

Since its inception in January 2001, the organization has made grants of more than $600,000 benefiting more than 35 non-profit organizations. The $20,000 gift will be matched dollar-for-dollar by an anonymous local businessman to assist with housing needs caused by the disaster in mid-May.

The Disaster Relief Fund was established at Rochester Area Community Foundation, home of the Yates Community Endowment, to quickly respond to those affected by the severe flooding in Yates County.

Finger Lakes Economic Development Center in collaboration with Keuka Housing Council and Yates Community Endowment are working to accept, review, approve and make grants to applicants. For more information, go to www.racf.org/yates.
