The Pike Co. Inc. will lead a seven-member team including LaBella Associates P.C. and Foundation Design P.C. that will design and build a new train station in Rochester.

The three Rochester companies will work with Kisan Engineering P.C. of suburban Buffalo, Moffat & Nichol Engineering P.C. of Long Beach, Calif., Joy Kuebler Landscape Architect P.C. of suburban Buffalo and Canton, N.Y.-based Atlantic Testing Laboratories on a project that could cost up to $29.8 million.

A final contract with the team, including the contract cost and approval from the state attorney general and controller, will be negotiated this summer, a statement released by the office of Rep. Louise Slaughter, D-Perinton, said.

“I couldn’t be more pleased that this talented team has been chosen, and I am convinced that they will build our region a beautiful, highly functional station,” Slaughter said in the statement.

“Over 140,000 people use the current station every year, and they deserve a 21st-century facility.”

Preliminary site work will be performed this summer by CSX Corp.

The National Passenger Railroad Corp., doing business as Amtrak, will continue to own and operate the station, which will be built on the site of the existing station at 320 Central Ave.
