Dogtown has received an honorable mention in the Top Five Vegan Hot Dogs in America list by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.

The eatery was cited for its Calcutta Cur, a veggie dog topped with Indian-style mango salsa.

Vegetarian options are a priority for the restaurant, which sells 15 varieties of veggie dogs daily. The company is located at 691 Monroe Ave.

The winners of the contest are the Holiday Dog at the Vegan Hot Dog Cart in Orlando, Fla.; the Rockaway Beach at Dirty Frank's Hot Dog Palace in Columbus, Ohio; the Patt Morrison Baja Vegan Dog at Pink's in Los Angeles; the Vegan House Special at Dreamy Weenies in New Orleans; and the Soy Veggie Dog at Mustard's Last Stand in Denver and Boulder, Colo. DC-3 in Washington, D.C., also received an honorable mention.
