Penfield school stands out in fourth-grade tests

Rochester Business Journal
July 10, 2014

Among 104 public elementary schools in Monroe and Ontario counties, Cobbles Elementary in Penfield earned first place in two of the three exams taken by fourth-graders statewide.

An analysis of elementary school test data from the state Department of Education will appear in the 2014 Rochester Business Journal Schools Report Card, which will be published as a supplement to tomorrow’s edition of the paper.

Cobbles Elementary led all of the schools in the fourth-grade English and math exams. In the fourth-grade science exam, Leo Bernabi School in Spencerport and School 58 – World of Inquiry School in Rochester were tied at No. 1.

Among the districts, Pittsford had the most top-five elementary schools—five—in one or more of the three fourth-grade exams. Tied at second were Penfield and West Irondequoit, with three apiece.

All current RBJ subscribers will receive a copy of the 2014 Schools Report Card. To pre-order extra copies, go to the RBJ Newsstand.
